It’s been just about a month since we last did a blog post, and as we start getting deeper into 2021 it seemed like a good time to do another progress update. The writing is continuing nicely and remains on track, but there’s another aspect of the book that we haven’t really discussed too much.
One of the most exciting things for me as a writer is that Last Fables is going to be illustrated, with the talented Play and Weaver working diligently to ensure there will be some gorgeous pieces to accompany my words. But just as writing the story goes through an outline and multiple drafts, they’ve been working since this project began to visually flesh out the story. There’s been a lot of back and forth, with the two of them coming up with (and refining) character designs and illustrating ideas to see how they’d fit into the story itself.
This means that there are literally dozens of pieces that they’ve done associated with Last Fables, and very few of them have been published on this blog or their DeviantArt pages. However, I definitely feel that they both deserve recognition for their fantastic work, and so they’ve put together a sort of visual teaser composed of moments from the story.
I won’t spoil any plot points, but these are all things to look forward to later this year when Last Fables is completed. I hope you’ll enjoy, and I can’t wait to share more!
